Why I’m making YouTube videos

Willis Tower Ledge

Happy Thanksgiving!

First off, the first episode of my new series, Journey to the Horizon, is now available on YouTube. Please give it a watch and let me know what you think.

So, the question some people may wonder is: Why am I making YouTube videos?

Because I want to.

It really is a simple answer, but one that has a little more meaning than that.

I feel very lucky to be in a position where I can travel and create some videos. And it’s possible that no more than a handful of people will ever see my work.

I’m OK with that.

First and foremost, this is an opportunity to express a creative side of me that I’ve never had the chance to express. It is a chance to do something different and fun.

I’ve mentioned many times how inspired by YouTube creators I am. And while I know that my work will likely never reach the audience that their work does, if even one person watches it and doesn’t regret spending 10 minutes of their life doing so, then it was totally worth it.

The older I get, the more I realize that sometimes you’ve just got to DO it. So often we talk about what-ifs rather than figuring out a way to do it. Life is short, and we all need to spend more time living, in my opinion.

I’ve got lots of creative ideas, and I’ll eventually have better gear to shoot them. For now, I will express myself with my Galaxy S21 Ultra and my Insta360 One X2. Hopefully, I will make something worth enjoying.

So this first episode is from the time I pick up my rental car at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to my Tuesday morning adventure at the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. I hope you enjoy it.

Episode two will come out on Dec. 2. If you like Lake Michigan and lighthouses, you’ll love this episode.

Thanks again for reading and watching!
